One great place to investigate, and yes...it takes an effort, is the state
land department downtown. They have detailed maps available showing the
'ownership' of every plot of land in the state. Once you know who 'owns' a
piece of land, you can use http://www.geocachingpolicy.info/
<http://www.geocachingpolicy.info/> <http://www.geocaching-policy.info> to
find out if they have a published policy on geocaching. Then you can
contact them to receive permission to hide the cache.

Subject: Re: [Az-Geocaching] Mad Park Ranger
This brings up something I've wanted to know for a long time.
Can someone that is in the know compile a list of which sections of Arizona
are off-limits or require permission? Some, like Native American land,
would seem to me to be obviously off-limits, but I really am not sure about
some of the parks and/or mountains as to who they're managed by or whether
they're appropriate. A comprehensive list, if possible, would be extremely
helpful.
