The Barry Goldwater range is accessible to the public in most areas, with a
permit. Permits are free. Areas that are dangerous or off limits are posted
once you're on the range. When you obtain your permit, a map is also
included that shows what areas are off limits. As mentioned earlier, you
release the government from all liability and you accept all the dangers and
agree to stay out of restricted areas when you accept the permit.
The Fortuna cache is on the range in a non-restricted area, but does require
a permit. The Motown Three cache is close to the range, but not on it (no
permit required). My cache, "GC294C - El Camino Del Diablo" isn't located on
the range, but you will need to cross the range to access the cache. There's
another cache (GC416C) that also requires the range to be crossed.
Permit information for the El Camino Del Diablo trail which includes the
Barry Goldwater range, the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, and the
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument can be found on the cache page for
GC294C.

Looks like GC2E6E "Motown Three" also might be on the gunnery range.

I was planning our trip to San Diego and though we would hit a few easy
one's on the way out. I came across "Fortuna in a cache" GC3BBA which
appears to me to be on the Barry Goldwater gunnery range? Nothing like being
strafed by an A-10 Warthog to add to a bit of geocaching excitement. IF the
rest of you concur with the placement being on the range I will e-mail the
owner and ask that it be archived and from the list.
Let me know what you think before I make the request to the cache owner.
