> Dumped COX all together.

I've had extreme good luck with COX at my present location.... at my old
location though was a totally different story. It would go up and down all
the time, especially if it had rained recently. Of course they dismissed
the rain issue and told me that it had nothing to do with it, but all I know
is that if it rained I would have no internet for a couple of days till it
dried out... every time without fail.

Avoid starband like the plague.... it's bandwidth is like a hose compared
to a straw.

If you want to get drink you can get a whole lot more water out of a hose,
but you are gonna have to turn it on and wait till the water gets to the end
of the hose and then warms up.... or in other words, there is a HUGE
latentcy of just under a second minimum.

Now more people want just take sips of their drink and can immediatly get
when drink though a straw making it feel faster than haveing to turn on the
hose every time they want a sip. Or in other words the web is lots of
little connections and it actually feels faster to browse it using a modem
that a satelite dish. The exception being if you want to download lots of
big files and thats about it. then the satelite dish could be the way to
go.

Anyway, this is from personal experience from having setup 4 different
systems both 1 way and 2 way and I never got good quality bandwidth out of
them and went back the the slower 56k ptp connection because of it "speed"
:)

P.S. I have heard thet they are working on putting some satelites on a much
lower orbit. When that happens the service will probably be a lot better
and then I would take another look at it.
